Prefabricated chimneys are often enclosed in a chase. In most cases, the termination of the chase is finished off with a custom fabricated metal chase cover to provide weather protection. Unfortunately, the majority of chase covers are made up of light gauge galvanized sheet metal, which does not provide long-term protection. Deterioration due to corrosion is the result and the purpose and benefit of a chase cover is then compromised. Because the chase cover is located in an area that is not conducive to routine inspection, water leaks can be ongoing for quite a time and result in damage to the chase and adjoining areas of the home, thereby necessitating costly repairs.
Our chase covers are fabricated in either heavy gauge aluminum or stainless steel. When installing a new chase cover, we also replace the storm collars for each chimney with corrosion resistant aluminum or stainless steel versions.
When necessary or recommended, deteriorated chimney caps can be replaced with approved, long life, stainless steel after market assemblies.
The photos below show a variety of before and after projects.
