Liners are an important and required component of chimney construction. The purpose of a liner is to contain the products of combustion from an appliance as those products are vented to the exterior. For many years, masonry chimneys have been constructed with terra cotta clay flue tile liners.
The relining of a chimney may be recommended or required for a number of reasons.
Some examples would include the following:
* The existing clay liner may be cracked, damaged or in some way compromised whereby the liner cannot satisfy its intended function.
* A reline procedure would be needed for older masonry chimneys that are unlined.
* Relining a chimney is needed when an existing liner is too large to properly vent a new or existing appliance that is installed into it.
A number of methods are available for relining chimneys with the most widely used being stainless steel. Stainless steel liners can vary with regard to the alloy of the stainless steel itself, as well as the construction of the liner.
We have been relining chimneys since 1978. Be assured that every important aspect is factored into each reline procedure we spec out and perform.
